Job summary

AKL Engineering in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to install, wire, test, troubleshoot, and commission electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and data center projects.

Responsibilities include installing transformers, switchgear, MCCs, panels, conduit work, reading drawings, performing testing, and adhering to NEC/OSHA/NFPA 70E safety standards; travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Journeyman license or applicable qualification preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical installation experience preferred.
• Experience with distribution equipment, transformers, and switchgear preferred.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and use electrical testing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and connect transformers, switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, breakers, and other electrical equipment.
• Perform conduit installation, cable pulling, termination, grounding, and equipment wiring.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and schematics.
• Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and equipment commissioning.
• Follow NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and project safety requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, foremen, and other trades.
• Maintain a safe and organized jobsite.
• Travel to project sites as required.
