Job summary

The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a qualified Electrician to join the Illinois Youth Center Harrisburg. The ideal candidate will perform routine maintenance inspections on all electrical equipment and safely troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install electrical systems including fire alarm, camera and BAS controls.

This union position requires completion of an electrician apprenticeship and four years of journey level experience (or eight years).

Qualifications

• Requires completion of high school or equivalent.
• Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program is preferred.
• Four years of journey level electrician experience; or eight years of journey level experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance inspections of electrical systems in facilities.
• Repairs and maintains electrical switchboards, panels, and related equipment.
• Installs and maintains electrical systems such as fire alarm systems, camera systems, BAS controls.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Completion of recognized electrician apprenticeship program

Four years full-time journey level electrician experience; or eight years of journey level experience
