Job summary

The City of Sacramento is seeking a skilled Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic systems across municipal facilities, parks, stations, and street lighting. You will read plans, diagnose complex issues, and ensure safety and code compliance.

Ideal candidates have journeyman-level experience, complete an apprenticeship (8,000 hours), and can work independently or with a team while delivering reliable electrical services.

Qualifications

• Experience as a journey-level Electrician and completion of an apprenticeship with 8,000 hours in the field.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of standard electrical practices, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Familiarity with local and national electrical codes and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Install conduits, wire, boxes, switchboards and switches for additions or alterations.
• Repair and maintain interior/exterior lighting, power, heating, fire alarm, and street lighting systems.
• Repair or replace defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, batteries, switchboards and related equipment.
• Test and locate faults in electrical circuits and medium voltage distribution systems.
• Review project documents and inspect contractor work for conformance with plans and specs.
