Job summary

Control Tech is seeking a Journeyman Electrician in Williston, ND to provide on-site installation, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs for electrical equipment. You will read schematics, troubleshoot systems, and ensure safety standards are met while coordinating with the warehouse and field teams.

The role requires a Red Seal or equivalent, oil and gas experience preferred, and the ability to work long hours and be on-call.

Qualifications

• Journeyman or Red Seal certificate in electrical required.
• Experience in oil and gas industry is a plus.
• Experience using pressure and electrical test equipment to troubleshoot.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
• Willingness to work long hours and participate in on-call rotation.
• Proficient with ERP systems, prefer IFS Aurena/Tech Portal.
• Must have valid safety certifications (First Aid/CPR with AED, H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS).
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol test required.
• Criminal background check required; clean driving record.

Job Brief:

The Journeyman Electrician will provide on-site installation, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs for a customer’s electrical products and equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Completes QA/QC redlines for as-built construction drawings.
• Reads and interprets schematics and drawings related to electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications.
• Repairs and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); removes and replaces defective parts.
• Pulls wire through conduits, holes, and splice, join, and/or connect wire to form circuits.
• Tests circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
• Completes daily field work orders and maintains hours worked and equipment used.
• Completes inventory transfers and provides monthly warehouse inventory reports.
• Senior Journeyman will complete on the job training documents for Junior Technicians.
• Mentors/trains electrical apprentices.
• Provides on-call support as required.
• Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
• Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Journeyman or interprovincial Red Seal Certificate in electrical.
• Technical training or experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
• Experience using pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) drawings.
• Ability to work long hours and participate in on-call schedule as required.
• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn and use an ERP system, IFS w/ Aurena Tech Portal preferred.
• Standard First Aid/CPR with AED, H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
• Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
• Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
