LOCATION: This is a nationwide traveling position requiring frequent travel to project sites across the United States. Per diem will be provided.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman II Electrician to be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems from a technical blueprint.

Job Functions:

• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
• Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by an electrician helper.
• Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
• Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
• Observe the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 4 years of verified trade experience
• 2 years of verified Industrial/Fuels experience
• Must have a state-issued electrician’s license
• Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment
• Must know about electrical systems, power , blueprints, and maintenance and repair
• Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site
• Must be able to understand, read, and write in English
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
• Must have a working knowledge of the Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria
• Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and have a strong attention to detail
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check required to access US military installations
• Must have a valid driver’s license
