Job description

Chappell Electric is a family-owned and operated electrical contractor in Kansas City, MO. Founded in 2011, Chappell Electric's overall mission is to exceed above expectations and ensure every customer is satisfied. As an employee at Chappell Electric, you will be joining a group of hardworking individuals with room to grow and learn the electrical trade.

As a member of the Chappell Electric Service Team, you will be working at our residential and commercial sites installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical setups. You will read blueprints to assist in working with electrical systems and maintain a safe environment by following safety procedures.

Position Responsibilities and Skills:
  1. Test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to determine issues, safety, and compatibility.
  2. Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis, and steps taken to resolve issues for each job.
  3. Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring, or devices.
  4. Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints, and maps.
  5. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements, reporting violations to the immediate supervisor.
  6. Use ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and lifts to work on electrical systems in residential homes, roadside poles, and commercial properties.
  7. Answer emergency calls quickly, assess safety upon arrival, and provide directions to individuals affected by electrical emergencies.
  8. Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and report any issues to the immediate supervisor.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
  1. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  2. Must be able to perform frequent activities such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, carrying, swinging, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, pulling, and balancing.
  3. May be exposed to extreme weather and environmental conditions (hot or cold).
  4. Must follow all OSHA safety requirements and have proof of an OSHA 10 certification/card.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Electrician/Journeyman license.
  3. Four years of electrical experience.
  4. Driver's License.
  5. Able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Associates degree/trade school or higher.
  2. Five years of electrical experience.
