Job summary

The City of Ames is seeking a Journey Level Lineworker to support the Electric Distribution Division. The role involves constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground distribution/transmission systems, with opportunities for overtime and on-call pay.

Qualifications include completion of a US Department of Labor apprenticeship in high voltage transmission and distribution and strong knowledge of safety rules.

Qualifications

• Completion of a US Department of Labor apprenticeship in high voltage electric transmission and distribution repair.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and maps related to electrical systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safety rules and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission lines, overhead and underground.
• Read blueprints/maps, prepare activity reports, and supervise helpers when needed.
• Install and service metering equipment; climb poles and operate related machinery safely.
