Job summary

Nor-Son Construction seeks a Journeyman Carpenter to build, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures on diverse projects. You will lead and instruct the Apprentice Carpenter and travel is required to accomplish assignments.

This role requires 3-5 years of carpentry experience, strong leadership and safety focus, blueprint reading, and the ability to work with power and air tools on a team in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years’ experience as a carpenter.
• Knowledge of construction processes and techniques.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to work with power and air tools efficiently, productively, and safely.
• Strong planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
• A valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and a working telephone number are required.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and/or take instructions from supervisors to determine dimensions and materials required.
• Inspect work along the way to ensure it is up to code and specifications.
• Keep job site clean & properly stack and protect materials from the elements.
• Perform proper care and basic maintenance of all on-site company tools and equipment.
• Work as a team member in accomplishing detailed daily and weekly goals.
• Perform duties as directed by Superintendent.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Frequently works with/near machinery, electricity, power tools, impact tools, chemicals, fumes, and heights.
• Frequently works on high structures such as ladders, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to regularly lift 25 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• This position will have occasional use and operation of motor vehicles and operate foot pedals.

Travel is required.
