Job Responsibilities:

- Receive and understand instructions and prints regarding work assignments in shop or field.
- Interpret part and assembly drawings; make sketches showing construction details for fabrication or remodeling work.
- Plan sequence of operations and job methods.
- Make calculations essential in estimating material requirements and for laying out and developing curved, angular, plane, or irregular shapes.
- Select materials and tools most suitable for the job.
- Set up and operate woodworking tools to cut, finish, and form material for the job.
- Use a variety of hand tools to form, fabricate, finish, erect, dismantle, repair, and refinish structures and refinery office equipment.
- Perform a wide variety of carpentry work such as interior finishing, repair, and construction of office furniture, storage cabinets, doors, partitions, windows, building tanks, benches, shoring, and scaffolds.
- Build forms and install reinforcing rods and anchor bolts for concrete foundations.
- Locate and install prefabricated wood and metal parts.
- Install or replace glass.
- Dismantle, erect, and repair various types of roofing.
- Erect various types of scaffolds including pipe and safety barriers and make provisions for handling materials needed for the job.
- Keep immediate working area clean.
- Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience.
- A general knowledge of basic hand tools.
- Must be able to pass the Carpenter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
- Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
- To obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.
Physical/Special Requirements:
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
- Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
- Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds, with assistance, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment, or tools.
- Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties. Work normally requires eye-hand coordination.
- Travel and overtime may be required.
