Journeyman Carpenter

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, this position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of hospital buildings, facilities, and equipment at an 'expert', 'master craftsman', or 'specialist' level in one of the building trades. The candidate should be familiar with and reasonably proficient in other trades. Provides technical guidance to helpers, workers, and mechanics on maintenance operations. Assists the Supervisor in determining optimal maintenance and operation methods. Must be able to work independently, assessing maintenance or repair needs, prioritizing tasks, and responding appropriately. Customer service orientation is mandatory.

Hours:

Full-time, day shift.

Job Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree (Required)
  • 3-4 years of experience in a related field (Required)
  • Mechanical/electrical background including familiarity with repair and maintenance tools and terminology
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals
Job Responsibilities:
  • Complete and submit paperwork associated with Work Orders on time; file Incident Reports and document critical turnovers in Maintenance Redbook
  • Complete scheduled and unscheduled work orders within designated timeframes
  • Maintain a neat, organized workspace, including mechanical and electrical rooms; manage inventory levels in assigned areas; maintain professional appearance
  • Use proper techniques and personal protective equipment to perform work safely and efficiently
  • Apply technical skills to complete work requests thoroughly and professionally
Working Conditions:

Includes occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, lifting (both <10 lbs. and 50+ lbs.), pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, and walking; frequent standing, talking, and lifting; consistent use of hands; occasional color vision; frequent far and near visual acuity; consistent hearing of conversation and other sounds; and continuous concentration and learning.
