Join our team at UPMC Corporate Facilities Engineering and Maintenance!

We're seeking a skilled Journeyman 2 - Locksmith/Carpenter to join the UPMC Presbyterian South Tower team.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with 70% local travel.

Role Overview: You will plan, organize, coordinate, and implement advanced mechanical lock and key systems to ensure a secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and assets.

Qualifications: Possession of a registered locksmith license or at least three years of locksmith experience.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms, and shop areas.
  2. Follow infection control procedures during all work activities.
  3. Inspect, maintain, install, and repair doors and hardware, including fire doors.
  4. Record work orders and submit hours daily.
  5. Inspect, install, and maintain fire-rated assemblies per safety plans, UL, and manufacturer standards.
  6. Manage infection control containment levels based on risk, ensuring integrity.
  7. Plan, organize, and supervise security specifications.
  8. Order and install mechanical locking systems, supplies, and devices.
  9. Perform hardware repairs, rekeying, and re-pinning as needed.
  10. Review project documents for security system specifications and hardware installation.
  11. Update key issue database regularly.
  12. Coordinate installation and repair of locking systems with vendors or in-house teams.
  13. Consult with departments on lock hardware design and installation.
  14. Maintain master/sub-master keying system records securely.
  15. Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  16. Keep tools and equipment in good condition.
  17. Maintain supplies for key cutting and lock repairs.
  18. Specify lock hardware compatible with electronic access systems.
  19. Support BMS department as needed.
  20. Adhere to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
