UPMC Corporate Facilities Maintenance and Engineering - Journeyman 1 Stationary Engineer

UPMC Corporate Facilities Maintenance and Engineering is hiring a Journeyman 1 - Stationary Engineer to join our team in Pittsburgh. This position will work at our Oakland campuses and assist with other sites as needed. The role involves working standard daylight hours, with on-call rotations for emergencies.

Responsibilities:
  1. Inspect electrical distribution systems, locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.; inspect fire alarm systems and respond to fire alarms.
  2. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in equipment rooms and shop areas.
  3. Keep detailed logs related to shift responsibilities, such as medical gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
  4. Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures for equipment and building systems.
  5. Operate and maintain building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
  6. Order materials as needed.
  7. Follow infection control procedures during all work activities.
  8. Perform minor carpentry and painting tasks.
  9. Record work orders and submit hours to the supervisor daily.
  10. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including soldering leaks, fixing defective pipes, and unclogging drains.
  11. Operate and maintain mechanical systems such as steam heating, water systems, ventilation, and refrigeration; conduct rounds in all assigned buildings.
