Are you a skilled plumber looking to make a meaningful impact in a healthcare setting? UPMC Montefiore is seeking a full-time Journeyman 1 - Plumber to join our maintenance team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of plumbing systems across the hospital.

The standard shift is 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional off-shift and weekend work required, along with participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Estimate costs of installations and repair work, including requisition of material, as needed.
  • Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools.
  • Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks.
  • Install, repair and maintain various types of pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and piping systems from blueprints and sketches, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water and medical gas.
  • Investigate and perform system outages.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications by using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Prepare pipe for installation such as cutting, threading, removing burrs, grooving and bending.
  • Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of accredited plumbing apprenticeship program.
  • 2 years' plumbing experience working in a healthcare or commercial building environment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Driver's License Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber License - *must meet applicable local codes
