Job summary

Milwaukee Tool seeks a Journeyman Mold & Tool Maker to work on plastic injection molds and related tooling. You will repair, modify and fabricate dies and fixtures, study blueprints, and interact with operations and engineering to improve processes.

Expect to set up CNC equipment, troubleshoot tooling, and provide reliable maintenance records. The role emphasizes self-direction, continuous improvement opportunities, and collaboration across production teams.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting tooling and diagnosing mold/tooling issues.
• 5 years’ experience with injection molding repair, engineering changes and new builds.
• Ability to study blueprints and model files to repair or fabricate tools and dies.

Responsibilities

• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of mold components using calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
• Repair or fabricate tools and dies by studying blueprints and models.
• Set up and operate CNC/machine shop equipment; inspect tooling for production readiness.
• Fit and assemble parts to make or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools.

Job description

Job Description: As a Journeyman Mold & Tool Maker, you would work primarily on plastic injection molds, with other tooling and fixture work as needed. The primary duty is to utilize tool and die making skills to contribute to manufacturing improvements in both existing manufacturing processes and new products. This position will interact with operations, engineering and process technicians to construct, alter, fit and repair tooling from both the plastic injection molding processes. You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of mold components for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Study blueprints, sketches, and models to repair or fabricate tools and dies Ability to troubleshoot production and prototype tooling
• Mold cavity and insert changes as needed to support production schedule.
• Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders Inspect tooling for production readiness
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Participating in tryouts with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications, adjusting as necessary.
• Record work and repair history of tooling in the electronic maintenance system
• Perform and develop effective preventive maintenance systems of plastic molds and stamping dies
• Build and modify spare parts as needed, and give accurate time estimates of repairs
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and work in a self-directed manner to implement projects and optimize production processes

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

• Possess expert-level experience in troubleshooting tooling
• 5 years’ experience with Injection Molding repair, engineering changes and new builds Journey Mold (Tool and Die) Maker
• Experience with aluminum stamping and machining a plus
• Must be able to communicate technical status to the engineering or operations team.
• Experience with SolidWorks or NX is a plus
• Experience with Master CAM or Solidworks CAM is a plus
