MEAT CUTTING EXPERIENCE NEEDED

$20.85 - $23.69 PER HOUR

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the quality, freshness, safety, and profitability of Harmons’ fresh cut meat products. This person will prepare all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and seafood for sale in the meat service cases. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitation of the meat department, training new meat cutter associates, managing production and inventory levels, receiving and stocking products, and providing exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Follow established departmental and store policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure the quality and freshness of all products and services provided by the meat department.
  3. Maintain appropriate product assortment and inventory levels.
  4. Verify pricing accuracy and signage, especially for ad items.
  5. Clean and sanitize the meat department daily to meet company standards.
  6. Deliver excellent customer service to all customers.
  7. Be knowledgeable about all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and seafood, and cut to achieve profitability margins.
  8. Fulfill custom meat orders for customers.
  9. Complete logs and documentation promptly and accurately to ensure food safety standards.
  10. Grind beef, pork, chicken, and turkey as needed.
  11. Wrap cut and ground meat products appropriately.
  12. Minimize waste by following production sheets, monitoring code-dates, and ensuring proper product rotation.
  13. Receive and restock products for the meat department.
  14. Complete tasks efficiently and timely.
  15. Set a professional and positive example for others.
  16. Maintain company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity.
  17. Teach, mentor, and educate associates to promote team success.
  18. Provide honest, direct, and ongoing feedback regarding performance and areas for improvement.
  19. Assist to ensure the overall success of the meat department.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

  1. Daily interaction with store associates.
  2. Daily interaction with customers.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful performance requires the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; three years of meat cutting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and seafood.
  • Experience cutting meats efficiently and profitably.
  • Enjoy handling, preparing, and eating meat products.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Professional conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and be accountable.
  • Ability to make logical decisions using recognized skills and techniques.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

The work environment is generally safe and comfortable, with potential exposure to hot, cold, slippery, and wet conditions. Tasks require grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling, carrying (up to 80 pounds), stooping, twisting, crouching, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, and coordination. Standing, walking, and bending are required throughout the day, along with the ability to maneuver heavy objects.
