Journey Level Machinist - Full Time - Chattanooga (TN), United States

We are looking for a Journey Level Machinist to join our Services_AME team in the United States.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Perform layouts, set up, and operate conventional machine tools as required. Read and interpret all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  2. Design setups and methods where none exist.
  3. Instruct other shop personnel in proper machining techniques: set-ups, feeds and speeds for carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools, methods, and standard operating procedures.
  4. Improve methods for higher quality and better costs.
  5. Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
  6. Operate jib cranes and forklifts as directed by Supervisor/Area Supervisor.
  7. Support and participate in the company-wide safety program, following all safety policies and procedures.
  8. Support and cooperate in the company-wide quality management effort.
  9. Perform other duties as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
  3. Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
  4. Experience with machines such as I.D./O.D. grinder, turret lathe, engine lathe, knee mill, radial drill, horizontal and vertical boring mills, and planer mill.
  5. Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
  6. Knowledge of tool geometry, application, feeds, and speeds.
  7. At least 4 years of experience in machine shops with the above equipment.
  8. Willingness to work in a team environment and overtime as required.
