Job summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a JSE Mission Modeler to design and develop large‑force virtual training scenarios for the Joint Simulation Environment and SCARS ecosystem, supporting 100+ player exercises across MLS networks.

You will build scenario content using JSE tools, author behavior files and Lua scripts, coordinate with GRID services, and work with government SMEs to translate training requirements into credible training events; travel to government sites is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or closely related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in military mission scenario development, constructive simulation, or distributed synthetic environment operations in a DoD context.
• Hands‑on experience with military scenario authoring tools and constructive simulation frameworks (e.g., AFSIM, JSAF, EADSIM, OneSAF, NGTS).
• Familiarity with distributed simulation protocols including HLA, DIS, or TENA, and experience connecting scenario entities to a networked synthetic environment.
• Understanding of JSE architecture, GRID services, and the JPP structure, including behavior files, Lua scripting, and entity state message formats.
• Operational knowledge of USAF or USN TTPs, sufficient to author tactically credible training scenarios.
• Experience supporting LFEs or virtual training events with 50+ players in an LVC environment.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills; experience producing scenario documentation, test plans, and AARs.
• Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mission scenarios for large‑force virtual training within the JSE synthetic battlespace.
• Build scenario content integrating blue air, red air, constructive forces, and environmental conditions using JSE tools and frameworks.
• Author and maintain scenario behavior files, Lua scripts, mission configurations, and control logic per JPP standards.
• Coordinate with JSE GRID services to ensure fidelity of entity state, sensor, weapon interactions, and line‑of‑sight.
• Translate operational training requirements into executable synthetic environments; support scenario validation at government sites.
• Develop and maintain scenario libraries across mission profiles and platforms with MLS security and multi‑site scalability.
• Contribute to scenario documentation, RVR activities, and traceability between artifacts and JSE/SCARS standards.
• Travel to government test events and contractor facilities is expected.
