SSU is currently recruiting for a Joint Planner to support United States Special Operation Command – Korea (SOCKOR). This opportunity is an on-site / office position for an active contract.

Location: USAG – Humphreys, ROK

Security Clearance: TS, SCI eligible

Duties and Responsibilities:

The J35 Planner duties shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Generating strategic, campaign, and operational level plans appropriate for a Theater Special Operations Command Headquarters.
  • Coordinates within SOCKOR and USSOCOM SOF Force Provider Command elements to refine SOCKOR and Korean Family of Plans.
  • Coordinates with USFK, USINDOPACOM, USSOCOM, OUSD, and other Defense agencies and organizations in support of Directorate requirements.
  • Coordinates with and works with Republic of Korea and other foreign military personnel on a regular basis.
  • Leads SOCKOR priority planning JPGs and OPTs based on guidance from Commanding General, Chief of Staff, and Directorate leadership.
  • Supports United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), United States Forces Korea (USFK), Combined Forces Command (CFC), and United Nations Command (UNC) planning initiatives, JPGs and OPTs
  • Liaises with Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, Multinational, and Commercial counterparts to identify opportunities which bridge SOF capability and capacity gaps.
  • Generates AO and GOFO-level analog and digital products in support of planning efforts.
    • Briefs U.S. and foreign GOFO and civilian leadership.
  • Ready to support any additional taskings/product development as required by Directorate leadership.
  • Live and work in an operational environment when required (e.g., semiannual exercises operating from CP Tango, FOS-I, Daegu).
  • Travels within the Republic of Korea, and to CONUS and OCONUS locations as necessary to support directorate requirements.
  • The work of this position is sedentary; however, light physical effort is required.
  • The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office.
  • This position shall be designated a Mission Essential Contractor (MEC).

Qualifications:

  • Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • 5 years of joint plans experience
  • Previous experience in the KJOA, INDOPACOM or with SOF
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including briefing senior government leadership and preparing planning products for senior and policymaker use
  • Ability to work in a high tempo, high stress environment with minimal oversight
  • Familiarity with the use of Microsoft operating systems (e.g. Windows10/11), Office, and SharePoint products
  • Ability to obtain a USFK Motor Vehicle Operator’s Permit and operate Government Non-Tactical Vehicles (GOVs) in accordance with USFK Regulation 190-1
