Job summary

The Joint Fiscal Office seeks a Transportation Fiscal Analyst to provide legislators with nonpartisan, evidence-based financial and policy analyses on transportation finance and other fiscal issues. The analyst will work with legislators, agencies, and stakeholders to develop policy analysis, research, and recommendations for the legislative process.

The role is based in Montpelier and requires in-person work during legislative sessions with potential remote flexibility during adjournment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, business, planning, public administration, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Proficient in Excel and data analysis; ability to research state and national financial information.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.
• General working knowledge of the legislative process and ability to analyze issues in a political environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information, and work flexible schedules including extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide legislators with nonpartisan, evidence-based analyses on transportation finance and other fiscal issues.
• Work with legislators, agencies, and stakeholders to develop policy analysis, research, and recommendations for the legislative process.
• Communicate findings clearly to policymakers and staff.
• Support the legislative process with rigorous data-supported conclusions.
