About the Position:

This position is located within the Quality Services Division at Tripler Army Medical Center, which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Basic Requirement for Joint Commission Coordinator: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification requirement above, applicants must also meet the Minimum Qualifications defined below for the GS-0601, General Health Science series.

Specialized Experience:
  1. experience in a healthcare setting managing, directing, or supporting clinical quality management, accreditation, regulatory compliance, patient safety, or performance improvement activities
  2. reviewing healthcare quality, regulatory, accreditation, or organizational requirements to assist in identifying compliance or performance gaps
  3. managing, directing, or assisting with quality improvement, compliance, assessment, or organizational readiness activities
  4. communicating or collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to support healthcare quality and regulatory requirements

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OREducation:

Three (3) years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts)

OR Combination of Education and Experience:

Specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and more than two years but less than 3 years of graduate education as described above. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education above the second year by 36. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (NOTE: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
