Job summary

Grinnell College's Department of Classics and the Department of Philosophy invite applications for a joint tenure-track appointment in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy beginning Fall 2027. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD) or Associate Professor possible.

Candidates should be able to teach courses in Greek and Latin and in Greek and Roman philosophy, including translation, and related English courses.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Classics or Philosophy is preferred for tenure-track; ABD may qualify for instructor level.
• Ability to teach across Greek, Latin, and philosophy in translation in both departments.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Greek, Latin, and Greek and Roman philosophy across levels.
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary curricula and liberal-arts mission.
