We are searching for the best talent to join our MedTech Surgery team as an Engineer, Biosurgery R&D LCM located in Raritan, NJ.

  • Purpose: This Engineer will support the Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery (WCH&B) and R&D Life Cycle Management (LCM) group. They will apply their scientific expertise as the R&D representative on cross-functional project teams to ensure robust designs, scientific rigor, and data driven decision making to meet projects goals, objectives and milestones. The candidate will manage design controls and product design elements including new materials, design changes, cost improvement programs and business continuity projects.
  • _You will be responsible for:_
  • Managing complex design change projects related to wound closure and healing medical devices. Ensuring compliance to internal and external customer requirements, material/finished goods specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Be a creative, hands-on scientist/engineer who will participate in the design, development and commercialization of medical devices including those of formulated, biologic, synthetic and mechanical design in nature.
  • Be involved in product line extensions, existing product improvements, design control, design changes and commercial product support projects.
  • Confirm product and process change impact on user needs, customer requirements and translate them into design requirements and detailed specifications
  • Perform detailed design, material selection and engineering analysis of design changes.
  • Support testing and examination of product performance attributes.
  • Support Design Control activities, such as strategies, technical and design reviews, documentation and Design History Files including regulatory filings.
  • Support Design Verification and Design Validation activities such as developing protocols, performing testing, analyzing results, and authoring completion reports.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes and requirements with focus on absorbable and non-absorbable polymers.
  • Work effectively face-to-face and remotely on multi-functional and global project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in a engineering and/or science field is required
  • Advanced degree, is preferred
  • Polymer and/or Textile experience, is helpful
  • Knowledge of Design Controls, is helpful
  • Work experience in R&D Life Cycle Management and/or Development, is helpful
  • Experience with regulated medical device products and devices, is helpful
  • Understanding of basic statistics, is required
  • Understanding of medical device regulations, is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally in global settings is vital
  • Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills are vital
  • This position is based in Raritan, NJ and requires up to 10% domestic and international travel
