Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach

Hopkins Athletics is a multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men’s and women’s lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming.

The Hopkins Athletics department seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach. This position must execute within the framework of a best-in-class athletic department at Johns Hopkins University. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On-court training, development, and coaching and teaching of the sport
  • Assist head coach in the development and organization of travel, including meal planning
  • Assist in coordinating on-campus recruiting visits for prospects
  • Exhibit strong communication and leadership skills and build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, faculty, and staff
  • Understand the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment and assist student-athletes in achieving exceptionally high athletic and academic goals
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with the University’s policies, conference policies, and the NCAA rules and regulations
  • Handle other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates who will contribute to the cultural and ethnic diversity of our University are encouraged to apply
  • Prior experience coaching and recruiting at a high academic institution preferred
  • Must have the ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday work
  • Travel is also required. A valid driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle is required.
  • All candidates should be able to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

The Assistant Coach is directly supervised by the Head Coach. This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, alumni, and other outside constituencies.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/ WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

General office, athletic facility, and campus environment. The position will require work outside and in inclement weather. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Walking, standing, bending, twisting, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in coaching and training situations is required. Computer usage involving repetitive wrist motion is required. The position will be a limited-time, fiscal year appointment, with frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year with those dates determined by a supervisor.
