Job summary

Damar Services, LLC is seeking a Resource Specialist to join our team at the Children's Residential location in Indianapolis. This role supports our clients by maintaining a safe environment, assisting direct care staff, and applying crisis management and de-escalation skills to diffuse sensitive situations.

The position requires at least six months of full-time experience with behavioral challenges or DD/ID populations, a valid Indiana driver’s license, and the ability to pass pre-employment

Qualifications

• Six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population.
• Must provide formal proof of education.
• Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier
• Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Responsibilities

• Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed
• Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit and meet high risk behavior criteria
• Takes appropriate action regarding any events that affect the mental and physical well-being of the residents, including but not limited to, providing client and staff support, informal training and crisis management
• Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients
