Job summary

Fairview is seeking a Part-Time Janitorial Maintenance Worker to perform cleaning and light maintenance for municipal buildings. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and reliable, independent work.

Typical duties include cleaning offices and restrooms, restocking supplies, and assisting with event setup. Wages are determined by qualifications and the municipal pay schedule; background checks and screenings are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must pass background check, physical exam, and drug screening.
• Janitorial/custodial experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces.
• Clean sinks, countertops, appliances, windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling; replace liners and clean receptacles.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain janitorial closet and equipment in safe, clean, working condition.
• Use and handle cleaning chemicals safely and wear required PPE.
• Perform light maintenance (e.g., replace light bulbs, HVAC filters).
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings and events.
• Maintain supply inventory and request needed materials.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal).
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to push/pull carts and equipment.

Summary

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of municipal buildings and facilities. Performs routine cleaning and light maintenance to ensure public spaces, offices, restrooms, and meeting areas remain sanitary and welcoming.
