Job summary

Contract Specialties Group, Ltd. seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate vertical mills, reading blueprints to produce precision parts. You will edit G-code as needed and perform in-process inspections to ensure conformity with tolerances.

The role requires careful attention to detail, strong problem solving, and the ability to work well in a team using Haas, Mitsubishi, or Milltronics controls. This is an on-site position at our Hauppauge facility.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience or 2-year degree with 0–2 years experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and verify tolerances with precision measurement.
• Strong problem solving and teamwork capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC vertical mills using offsets and compensation.
• Edit G-code when required to meet specs.
• Inspect own work before QA handoff and during in-process checks.
• Maintain close tolerances and adjust feeds/speeds as needed.
• Work with Haas, Mitsubishi, or Milltronics controls when required.

Job description

Responsible for the setup and operating of vertical mills making tool adjustments for a variety of major automatic machines. Works from blueprints and process sheets to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May also make recommendations concerning use of and improvement upon materials and design.

Essential Functions:

• Setup and operate CNC vertical mills using work offsets, tool height offsets, and familiarity with cutter compensation.
• Light G code editing when required.
• Inspect your own work/parts before giving to inspection dept. and during in process inspection.
• Ability to work to and hold close tolerances.
• Determines proper feed and speed adjustments if needed.
• Haas, Mitsubishi, Milltronic control experience are preferred.

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2-year post-secondary/Associates Degree with 0-2 years of prior related experience.
