Position Title - Operations and Engagement Coordinator

James Madison University’s Office of Creative Propulsion (OCP) invites applications for a full-time Operations and Engagement Coordinator. OCP supports College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) students and faculty in ideating, launching, and refining arts-based efforts that reimagine and disrupt traditional practices, stretch and break artistic boundaries, and promote more equitable and inclusive opportunities for meaningful arts engagement. Job Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinating, supporting, and working within (based on disciplinary expertise) existing and emerging OCP and CVPA community engagement initiatives (e.g., Centering the Arts Podcast, Dance for Parkinson’s, JMUke, Madison New Works, Songtuary).
  2. Managing OCP’s Roop Hall suite as an engaged physical site for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  3. Contributing to developing and conducting OCP’s Harrisonburg Arts Needs Assessment.
  4. Supporting identifying and developing applications to external funding opportunities and corporate/foundation gifts to support OCP’s work.
  5. Collaborating with OCP’s Executive Director, CVPA’s Director of Communications and Marketing, Office of Research and Scholarship, and University Communications and Marketing to highlight OCP accomplishments.
  6. In collaboration with CVPA fiscal technicians, supporting Executive Director in managing OCP budget (e.g., budget outlook, reconciliation).
  7. Collaborating with CVPA faculty and staff to support college-wide initiatives.
  8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent writing skills.
  4. Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  5. Demonstrated time management skills.
  6. Ability to take initiative and be independently productive.
  7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity in the workplace.

Additional Considerations:

  1. Professional experience in an arts-related discipline.
  2. Experience with community-based collaborations/partnerships.
  3. Experience with fiscal procedures.
  4. Grant writing experience.
