Job summary

Qnnect is seeking an experienced assembler to perform advanced precision assembly of aerospace and defense components, including complex multi‑part builds, prototype and First Article work, and detailed wiring tasks in Chandler, AZ.

The role requires interpreting drawings and travelers, certs like IPC J-STD-001, AS9100 experience, and the ability to guide less experienced workers while maintaining strict documentation and traceability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of progressive precision electronic, electromechanical, cable, connector, and aerospace assembly experience.
  • Demonstrated experience independently assembling complex products from engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, and work instructions.
  • Current IPC J-STD-001 certification required when performing work governed by the standard; other customer or process certifications may be required based on assignment.
  • Aerospace and defense manufacturing and experience in an AS9100 environment required..
  • Experience supporting prototype, First Article, custom, or complex low-volume production builds required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced precision soldering, wiring, cable termination, miniature component assembly, hardware installation, fitting, and adjustment operations using microscopes and precision tools.
  • Support prototype builds, First Article builds, engineering changes, and complex production assemblies while maintaining configuration and documentation requirements.
  • Interpret detailed drawings and specifications to determine assembly sequence, component orientation, workmanship requirements, and applicable process requirements.
  • Perform thorough in-process self-inspection and verify completed work for conformance to workmanship, dimensional, and quality requirements.
  • Identify complex assembly or quality concerns, perform permitted adjustments within established requirements, and communicate issues to Production, Quality, or Engineering for resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to less experienced assemblers on established methods, workmanship expectations, and use of tools or equipment; does not have formal supervisory authority.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and support traceability, AS9100, customer, and applicable IPC/JSTD requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement, 5S, cross-training, and efforts to improve quality, repeatability, productivity, and on-time delivery.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs advanced precision assembly of complex aerospace and defense components, custom products, cable assemblies, connectors, and electromechanical assemblies. Works from engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, customer requirements, and work instructions to complete highly detailed assembly, precision soldering, fitting, wiring, and adjustment operations. Serves as a highly skilled individual contributor for complex builds, including prototype and First Article work, and provides technical guidance on established assembly methods without formal supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of progressive precision electronic, electromechanical, cable, connector, and aerospace assembly experience.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • Advanced proficiency in precision assembly, soldering, wiring, termination, fitting, and mechanical/electromechanical assembly techniques.
  • Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and detailed manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficiency using microscopes, precision hand tools, fixtures, and applicable measuring equipment for miniature or tightly controlled assemblies.
  • Strong troubleshooting judgment within established assembly procedures, including the ability to recognize complex workmanship or process concerns and elevate appropriately.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and demonstrate established assembly methods to less experienced employees without exercising supervisory authority.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, workmanship, attention to detail, accountability, and ability to consistently produce high-quality assemblies with minimal rework.
  • Must be authorized to access information and hardware subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations, including U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, Political Asylees, or Refugees.
  • Strong English communication skills, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend instructions and technical information.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor control for handling small components and using precision hand tools.
  • Ability to successfully meet visual acuity requirements, including color differentiation, depth perception, field of vision, and sustained visual focus when working with detailed components and documentation.
  • Ability to frequently use microscopes, magnification devices, and precision tools as required by assigned work.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and maintain sustained attention to detail in a manufacturing environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes from assembly processes, and varying temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
