Job summary

Turning Point of Central California is seeking a Job Developer to assist clients with employment development and readiness services in Fresno. The role partners with employers and educational programs to create opportunities and support participants through resume, interviewing, and job search training.

Responsibilities include assessing readiness, planning employment education needs, and documenting services to meet requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or a high school diploma with 2 years' experience as a Job Developer or similar role.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and collaboration tools (Office 365, Teams, Zoom).
  • AOD certification/license from California DHCS (preferred) or active registration to provide AOD counseling services.

Job description

The Job Developer reports to the Program Director and will assist clients with employment development services. The Job Developer is responsible for delivering employment readiness services designed to prepare individuals for successful reentry into the workforce.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively collaborate with employers and vocational/educational programs in the Fresno area to create job opportunities for residents.
  • Refer residents to appropriate employers, training and educational facilities, community agencies and other appropriate organizations.
  • Provide individual and group training on job readiness, resume preparation, interviewing skills, job searching, transitional skills, and other job/education related topics.
  • Assess individuals for education and employment readiness.
  • Determine employment education, training and Career Technical Education (CTE) needs.
  • Assist clients with analyzing/evaluating employment opportunities, personal abilities/aptitudes, and provide information on occupational opportunities.
  • Discuss job requirements, training, rehabilitation resources and assist with formulating plans to achieve employment goals.
  • Mentor individuals in disclosing appropriate information regarding past convictions, and/or probation/parole status to potential employers.
  • Provide ongoing employment support to help participants navigate workplace challenges, reinforce positive behaviors and promote long-term job stability.
  • Document services to meet all program, county, and state requirements.
  • Assist individuals with obtaining necessary documents to legally gain employment in the state of California (e.g., California ID, Social Security Card, etc.).
  • Advise individuals of the benefits of completing the criminal record expungement process.
  • Provide information, or a referral, on how to expunge a criminal record, and obtain a Certificate of Rehabilitation.
  • Provide the SUD Supervisor and/or Program Director with timely reports and updates including any key communications between community partners, vendors, clients.
  • Will drive on Agency business.
  • Physical presence at the program is required.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in social sciences or a related field: or a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Job Developer or similar position.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Have a current AOD certification/license from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and maintain good standing OR currently registered to provide AOD counseling services from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and maintain good standing. (Preferred)
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to learn and operate within the electronic Automated Reentry Management System (ARMS).
  • Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and TB test.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR BILINGUAL SKILL
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
  • Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
  • Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
  • Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  • Other translation tasks as required.

    • Monolingual: Class 125 ($23.52 - $26.46/hour)
    • Bilingual: Class 130 ($23.77 - $27.81/hour)
