Responsibilities

Summary

The Job Developer provides participants with the tools and knowledge to prepare for successful community reentry through employment curriculum and services. In addition, the position provides group facilitation in areas including cognitive self-change, social skills, problem solving, relationships, and other related issues.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Job Developer facilitates delivery of cognitive behavioral curriculum in a group setting as needed.
  • Maintains class rosters, attendance records, documentation of progress, and provides completion certificates for CIVIL World and SKILLS program or other curriculum.
  • The Job Developer supports the assessment of participant needs and makes referrals to appropriate staff.
  • Aids participants in planning and developing post-release plans and encourages them to assume the responsibility for post-release behaviors and activities.
  • The Job Developer participates in weekly incentive events earned by the participants.
  • Assists in the coordination of participant program schedules to ensure the criminogenic needs of the participants are met.
  • The Job Developer maintains Computer Lab area.
  • Provides employment services to include resume writing, mock interviews, time management, and information on the work environment.
  • The Job Developer coordinates with outside employment resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) or more years of related experience in guidance, counseling or job placement. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or certification in the field of guidance, counseling or career development may be substituted for previous experience.
  • Familiar with community work force needs, public and private agencies, and employment services.
  • Ability to instruct.
  • Ability to maintain positive community relationships.
  • Ability to effectively interface with residents and staff.
  • Ability to motivate and create an atmosphere of enthusiasm toward work ethic. Ability to express thoughts logically, in both written and verbal form using correct grammar.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in order to perform a wide range of duties.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
