Primary Responsibility / Summary
Provides supervision to clients with developmental disabilities in individual or group enclave settings at multiple sites. Coaches participants in learning new job duties and skills to help them reach their potential and achieve positive outcomes in competitive, integrated employment settings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees completion of assigned tasks; coaches participants to learn job duties, maintain appropriate work behaviors, and maximize productivity and stability.
- Serves as liaison to the employer, ensuring successful workplace integration and assessing ongoing support needs.
- Assists participants in developing positive interactions with co-workers, customers, and the public.
- Uses hand-over-hand training, positive behavior modification, and other interventions to help participants learn and execute their job tasks effectively.
- Acts as an advocate for participants' employment rights, suggests work modifications or accommodations, and alerts supervisors to potential needs.
- Maintains communication with participants, program staff, counselors, and other stakeholders.
- Completes progress reports, case notes, documentation for billing, and inventory records as needed.
- Ensures compliance with work rules and safety requirements, reporting concerns to appropriate personnel.
- This position may require local travel (up to 50%) to multiple coaching sites; a valid CA driver’s license and auto insurance are necessary.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of job coaching or relevant experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Knowledge of working with people with disabilities, ADA knowledge preferred.
- Ability to speak another language and understand another culture as required.
- Excellent people skills, patience, professionalism, organizational and multitasking skills.
- Non-profit experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently, with shift flexibility and overtime as needed.
