Job description

In this position, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Under the guidance of a VR Counselor, provide job development, placement, and supported employment services for consumers referred directly from the Department of Mental Health's Individual Placement and Support Program (IPS).
  2. Provide planning and guidance towards successful vocational outcomes.
  3. Offer job skills training on the work site to supported employment consumers.
  4. Maintain weekly case notes.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a high school diploma with experience in career counseling or related case management (which may substitute for the bachelor’s degree).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the day to assist consumers at their workplaces.
  • Ability to work in various environments and on a flexible schedule to meet consumers' needs.
  • Knowledge and skill in conducting needs assessments.
  • Knowledge of fact-gathering methods and interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of behavior adjustment principles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and families.
