Job summary

Grant Community High School District 124 is seeking a Job Coach to support 18–21 year-old students with disabilities in classroom and community vocational settings. The role works with transition staff, employers, and coworkers to provide 1:1 and small group instruction and to help students develop job skills.

The position requires an Illinois paraprofessional license, strong confidentiality, and a safe driving history.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Educator License with Stipulations endorsed as a Paraprofessional.
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment and programs (PC, email, Google Docs).
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Illinois licensed driver with clean driving record (past 3 years).
  • Able to obtain a school bus driver permit.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a positive role model to students in community and instructional settings.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group instruction in classroom and community vocational settings.
  • Communicate with employers to inform transition staff of developments or concerns.
  • Evaluate student progress and record data.
  • Implement medical or behavior plans as needed.
  • Work flexibly with students of varying abilities.
  • Identify opportunities to fade support when appropriate.
  • Assist with job development and additional duties for students.
  • Attend team meetings when applicable.
  • Promote District 124 positively through professional conduct.
  • Assist with paperwork including DRS forms and transport notices.
  • Drive students to and from home and job sites in district vehicles.

Job Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

Illinois Educator License with Stipulations, endorsed as a Paraprofessional
Knowledge of basic office equipment and/or programs such as personal computer, email, Google Docs, copy machine, document shredder, etc.
Ability to work independently and use good judgment
Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of people: students, staff, parents, community stakeholders
Able to maintain confidentiality
Illinois licensed driver with clean driving record for the past three years
Able to obtain a school bus driver permit

REPORTS TO and EVALUATION BY: Director of Special Education
CONTRACT: School Year
PURPOSE OF JOB: The Job Coach will provide support to students ages 18-21 with disabilities in classroom and community vocational settings as directed by the transition staff. This person will work cooperatively with employers, team members, and support staff as well as working independently with students at their vocational training job sites. The Job Coach will also be responsible for assisting transition staff with required paperwork, assessments and maintenance of student records.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a positive role model to students in community and instructional settings.
  • Provide 1:1 instruction and/or small group instruction in both classroom and community vocational settings (job sites).
  • Communicate with employers regularly to advise the transition teacher of possible developments or concerns.
  • Evaluate student progress and record data.
  • Implement medical or behavior plans specific to student needs as necessary.
  • Work flexibly with students of varying abilities.
  • Recognize opportunities to fade support when applicable.
  • Provide input into job development and additional/alternative job duties for students.
  • Attend team meetings when applicable.
  • Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to promote a positive image of District 124.
  • Assist with required paperwork including but not limited to DRS forms, transportation notices, student data and classroom correspondence.
  • Drive students to and from home and job sites in district vehicles.
