Job description

Overview

National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Architectural Job Captain to join their Los Angeles office. In this role, you will be working on all phases of design & construction documentation of workplace projects. This position requires excellent time management, communication, and technical skills as you work closely with your team developing design concepts into high quality documents.

The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.

Responsibilities
  • Develops concepts according to parameters defined by Project Manager or Project Architect

  • Acts as point person of construction administration for large complex projects by maintaining a presence on the job site and leading efforts related to RFI’s, submittals, field coordination, etc.

  • Produces construction documents in Revit, including plans,sectionsand details

  • Assists with quality control for the design function and integrates and coordinates all disciplines into the building project

  • Maintains ongoing communications to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment

  • Interacts and communicates effectively and professionally with other team members

  • Utilizes past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of product, recognizes problem misuses, communicates impact to team and seeks clarity when necessary

  • Assumes execution of and assists with quality control activities for architectural elements on a project

  • Reviewsdrawings, documents and submittals for document compliance and documenting code review and compliance

  • Keeps lead Architect or designated team leader informed of progress; recognizes problem issues and communicates impact to team, and seeks clarity when necessary

  • Usespast experienceand project knowledge to assist the Project Manager keeping in mind schedules/budgets and provides communication as appropriate with team leaders and/or team members who are responsible forwork-flow/timelines, etc.

  • Meets project design schedule and design construction budgets

  • Assists with cost estimates and evaluation of bids with Project Manager

  • Assists with the preparation of analysis including alternatives or substitutions to reduce costs

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's orMaster'sdegree in Architecture or Interior Architecture

  • 6+ years of experience

  • Past experiencewith construction administration

  • Interest in working on medium-to-large scale project types in a very collaborative environment

  • Proficiency in Revit required; Experience with SketchUp,Enscape, and other graphic tools desired; Strong 2D and 3D graphics skills are essential
