Award-Winning 50-person distinguished architectural practice is actively seeking a Job Captain (Junior to Senior level) to join their growing Newport Beach studio. The firm possesses expertise in programming, planning, design, and management services, primarily catering to Educational Facilities for over three decades. With offices located in Orange County, San Diego, and East Bay, this firm boasts a wealth of professional knowledge, talent, and personalized commitment to their clients. The studios embrace hybrid work arrangements and prioritize the professional development and growth of their designers, architects, and managers.

Position Description: This role, at the Job Captain level, necessitates prior experience in construction document preparation. The role of a Job Captain is pivotal in ensuring the production of top-tier project deliverables in construction documents across all phases of a project, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration. Join this dynamic team and make a lasting impact with the following key responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Proficiency in organizing public bid projects from schematic design through bidding phases.
  2. Conducting thorough Code research to ensure project compliance with Division of State Architect (DSA) or other relevant governing jurisdiction requirements.
  3. Collaborating with consultant engineers to ensure seamless integration of documents.
  4. Client interaction to incorporate their needs into project documents.
  5. Provide invaluable support for all tasks essential to the successful project completion.
  6. Craft project construction documents with precision and attention to detail.
  7. Communicate and coordinate document preparation with consultants, contractors, and team members.
  8. Diligently review shop drawings, project submittals, and other materials for document compliance.
  9. Maintain thorough documentation of code review and compliance.
  10. Foster seamless communication and coordination with management, clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring smooth daily business operations.

Skills & Requirements:

  1. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  2. Preference for experience in educational projects and Division of the State Architect (DSA) regulations.
  3. Proficiency in using Revit Architecture is a must.
  4. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, or other 3D Modeling, Animation, and Rendering computer graphics programs is a valuable asset.
  5. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  6. Proficient in interpreting architectural drawings.

Education Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required, with preference given to candidates who are California Licensed Architects and possess 1-4 years (Junior Level) or 4+ years (Intermediate & Senior Level) of architecture construction document experience.
