Job Title: Job Captain / Architect – Workplace Design

Location: New York City, NY

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Job Captain / Architect with a strong background in workplace design to join a team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in reputable design studios within NYC, specializing in high-end financial, legal, brand headquarters, corporate hospitality, and workplace environments. This role requires a proactive professional comfortable with both on-site management and detailed documentation in-office, ensuring projects meet design, technical, and code compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate design development and construction documentation for workplace projects, ensuring a high level of attention to detail.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, GCs, MEP engineers, and internal architectural and interior teams.
• Manage project workflows, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.
• Conduct site visits to oversee construction progress, resolve on-site issues, and verify adherence to design intent and code requirements.
• Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and RFIs.
• Ensure all projects are compliant with local building codes and regulations.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with all project stakeholders, translating design concepts into executable solutions.
• Maintain organized documentation and project files throughout all phases of work.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture OR Interior Design from a recognised university.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in workplace design, preferably in NYC-based studios with a focus on financial, legal, corporate HQs, hospitality, or similar high-end environments.
• Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience managing projects from concept through construction documentation and construction administration.
• Ability to work on-site at project locations and in-office for documentation and coordination.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with GCs, MEPs, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of NYC building codes and regulations.
• NCARB certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
