Job Title: RN Health Care Facility Surveyor (#1138)

CMS’s Long-Term Care Basic Training and SMQT certification are required.

Impact Recruiting Solutions is seeking an RN Health Care Facility Surveyor for a position with a Quality Improvement Consulting Company. The role involves supporting internal and external customers nationwide in a technically engaging environment.

Requirements of the RN Health Care Facility Surveyor:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Successful completion of CMS’s Long-Term Care Basic Training and passing the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT).
  • At least two (2) years of recent experience as a surveyor accrediting or certifying long-term care facilities.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Proven ability for independent decision-making to manage the survey process effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Open communication skills to discuss conflicts and seek assistance when needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

Responsibilities of the RN Health Care Facility Surveyor:

This is a remote position with up to 75% travel. The Surveyor will participate as a team member or leader in various surveys (re-certification, complaint investigations, revisits) across healthcare settings including long-term care, ambulatory surgical centers, ICFs/IIDs, ESRD, PRTF, hospitals, and hospices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting on-site surveys to assess compliance with federal regulations.
  • Preparing for surveys through off-site planning, facility tours, care observations, record reviews, and staff/family interviews.
  • Evaluating healthcare quality, patient rights, and facility conditions.
  • Communicating deficiencies to facility personnel and during exit conferences.
  • Determining the acceptability of correction plans.
  • Following up to ensure deficiencies are addressed.
  • Assisting with training and participating in work groups as needed.
