Job description

Who are we?

We are Birchwood Golf and Country Club, part of the Burhill Group, which operates 22 golf courses spread across 10 unique clubs nationwide. As well as stunning golf courses Birchwood also has a large swimming pool, gym, spa, and a host of classes you can take part in. It also has restaurant and bar that serves both members and events such as weddings, birthday parties and festive gatherings.

What will you do?

  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day food preparation and running of the kitchen.
  • You will be expected to maintain high quality & speed of service for both the restaurant and for functions. You will work closely with the Head Chef to maximise sales and profitability, while maintaining excellence in quality and customer relations.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating with the restaurant management team on supply ordering, budgeting and kitchen efficiency and staffing.
  • You will be required to provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff members, on topics such as line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating, COSHH, HACCP, ALLERGEN and HEALTH & SAFETY.

Experience you MUST have?

  • 1-year minimum experience as a Junior Sous Chef - Essential
  • A good understanding of Food Safety (minimum level 2)/ Allergens/COSHH - Essential
  • Experience working in a busy, high-pressure environment - Essential
  • Experience in administrative duties such as rota and wage forecasting - Desirable
