Overview

The Senior Data Services Specialist, Custom Development & Client Integration, is a high-impact role central to the architectural design and deployment of data solutions for our clients. Serving as a lead technical authority, this individual drives complex data migration and multi-system integration initiatives across diverse client environments. Beyond technical expertise and hands-on execution, this role plays a pivotal client-facing function.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership, Development & Execution

• Lead architectural design for assigned solutions and end-to-end implementation of complex, custom data solutions, scripts, and enterprise applications tailored to complex client requirements.
• Architect and execute complex data migration strategies, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, reconciliation, security, and minimal operational disruption during system cutovers.
• Establish, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade integrations across complex client ecosystems (e.g., Salesforce, Sage Intacct, legacy ERPs, proprietary databases) using REST/SOAP APIs, modern ETL/ELT pipelines, serverless architecture, and custom connectors.
• Design, implement, and execute appropriate automated testing, continuous integration, and quality assurance practices for assigned custom development and integrations.
• Maintain technical documentation, including solution architecture diagrams, data flow maps, API specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Serve as a senior technical escalation resource for complex technical support issues and lead root-cause analysis for data integration and custom code incidents.
• Evaluate emerging cloud tools, integration methodologies, and developer practices to continually modernize company integration capabilities.

Strategic Client & Account Management Support

• Act as the senior technical lead for assigned engagements, working with client stakeholders and internal account teams to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Drive complex technical discovery sessions, solution design workshops, and technical presentations and demonstrations to client stakeholders, translating high-level business drivers into granular, scalable technical roadmaps.
• Partner with sales and account management teams to support discovery, technical scoping, estimating, and assist in proposal development and add-on project engagements within the CRM pipeline.
• Identify and communicate technical risks, scope impacts, dependencies, and timeline concerns for assigned engagements.

Service Delivery, Operations & Mentorship

• Lead the technical delivery of assigned custom development and integration engagements, ensuring technical deliverables are completed on schedule, within scope, and to established quality standards.
• Develop comprehensive training programs and executive handover documentation for internal support teams and client key stakeholders.
• Support department goals for process improvements such as automating internal workflows, establishing standardized integration frameworks, and building reusable solution libraries.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, enterprise integration, software development, or technical consulting, with a demonstrated history of leading client-facing implementation projects.
• Proven background in professional services, IT consulting, or agency work managing multiple billable client engagements simultaneously.
• Strong expertise with relational databases and SQL, including data modeling, performance tuning, and complex query development; NoSQL experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience architecting and building robust API integrations (REST, SOAP, Webhooks) and complex ETL/ELT workflows.
• Direct, hands-on experience building solutions on modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions) and cloud data pipelines.
• In-depth hands-on experience and data model familiarity with enterprise CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct or similar financial tools).
• Working knowledge of ERP and accounting concepts such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendors, customers, dimensions, payments, and transactional financial data.
• Demonstrated project management skills with a proven track record of handling multiple complex projects, tight deadlines, and competing client priorities.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with proven success presenting complex technical architectures to non-technical client stakeholders and business leadership.
