The Busser is responsible for providing exemplary service in the Ojai Valley Inn Restaurants. Duties include clearing and resetting dining tables, refreshing drinks, and setting up and breaking down the restaurant. The Busser plays an essential role in enhancing the guest experience and exceeding high guest expectations. Remaining aware of the restaurant environment, engaging with guests, anticipating their needs, and taking initiative to improve their stay will be focus areas for the Busser.

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:

Requirements represent the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the ability to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a threat or risk to health and safety.

Skills and Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain a friendly and unobtrusive manner with all guests.
  • Attend all required meetings.

  • Handle guest complaints and concerns professionally.
  • Recognize and address intoxicated, disruptive, or undesirable guests.

  • Monitor appearance and professionalism to meet OVI standards.
  • Follow payroll and uniform procedures.
  • Offer guests an enjoyable dining experience, demonstrating knowledge of the dining room and service standards.
  • Always have necessary tools on hand during shifts.
  • Pour water from the right, inform guests of wait times, and clear from the right.
  • Remove used silverware, crumb settings between courses, and clear tables efficiently and quietly.
  • Inform the host when a table is re-set.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction and report issues to management.
  • Check schedules and adapt to changes.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance, quality of work, and attitude.
  • Arrive on time and report unsafe conditions.
  • Respect guest confidentiality.
  • Set up function rooms as per contracts.
  • Anticipate guest needs and assist promptly.
  • Break down displays and assist servers as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in storage and linen areas.
  • Assist guests and perform other related duties as assigned.

The pay rate for this position is $16.50/hr plus gratuities.
