Job summary

You could join Johnny’s Market as an Assistant Manager for a Jimmy John’s location. You’ll cover second and third shifts, help uphold policies, and step in when the Manager is away.

The role requires readiness to be on-call 24/7 and to ensure the store runs smoothly around the clock. Responsibilities include leading the team, managing customer service, cash handling, HR tasks, stock control, and compliance with franchise guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or 1–2 years related experience or training.
• Able to speak, read and write English; follow manuals and procedures.
• Strong communication, detail orientation, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Willingness to work various areas of the store and operate a computer register.
• Must have a valid driver's license and pass MVR check.
• Ability to tolerate fumes and work in a cooler up to 10 minutes at 20°F.

Responsibilities

• Help the Manager keep the facility clean, safe, well-supplied, and staffed.
• Set high customer service standards and address complaints promptly.
• Control cash levels and assist with expenses and inventory.
• Perform HR duties: training, scheduling, and supervising staff.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, rotating stock, and vendor checks.
• Follow franchise guidelines for pricing, displays and promotions.
• Rotate food per standards and report losses or spoilage.
• Report maintenance issues and emergencies immediately.
• Complete daily bookwork and bank deposits when Manager is away.

As Assistant Manager of a Jimmy John’s owned by Johnny’s Market, you’ll play an important role in helping your restaurant run smoothly around the clock. You’ll help the Manager carry out all company policies and procedures to keep your restaurant clean, safe, and ready to satisfy, and you’ll be in charge during second and third shifts and whenever the Jimmy John’s Manager is away. The Jimmy John’s Assistant Manager must be available 24 hours a day as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Help the Jimmy John’s Manager keep your facility clean, safe, well-supplied, and well-staffed.
• Set the bar for excellent customer service and address any complaints promptly and politely to keep customers happy.
• Control and maintain cash levels and help manage operating expenses and inventory.
• Handle HR duties including training, scheduling, and supervising your team, while following Jimmy John’s and Johnny’s HR policies and all applicable employment laws.
• Help order, receive, and rotate stock, and check in approved vendors.
• Follow franchise guidelines for pricing, displays, and sponsored promotions.
• Rotate food according to franchise standards and report food loss/spoilage.
• Report all maintenance problems, accidents, security issues, and other emergencies immediately.
• When the Jimmy John’s Manager is gone, complete and report daily bookwork, make daily bank deposits, and verify change.

What You’ll Need

• Strong communication skills to interact with employees, customers, supervisors, and vendors in a friendly way.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, adapt well to change, and multi-task every day.
• Basic phone, computer and software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email).
• Ability to speak, read and write in English and interpret operating manuals, instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to count and make change.
• A willingness to work any area of the store when needed and operate a computerized register.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to gasoline and cleaning products fumes.
• Ability to work in a cooler at a temperature of 20°F for up to ten minutes at a time.
• A valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle to perform work-related activities, and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
• A high school degree or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination.
