Job summary

Swissport International AG in New York, NY seeks a Fleet Mechanic Supervisor to lead the Fleet shop, plan maintenance, and guide technicians. You will ensure safety, quality, and timely servicing, coordinating with senior management and ramp teams to minimize disruption.

The role requires 1–3 years in GSE maintenance with supervisory experience, a valid driver’s license, and relevant heavy‑duty/automotive certification. Daily operations include diagnostics, inventory control, and staff training.

Qualifications

  • 1‑3 years' experience in GSE or Fleet Maintenance.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Clear ID
  • Trade certification in Heavy Duty/Commercial or Automotive mechanics.
  • Knowledge of Maximo computer maintenance program.
  • Willing to travel for training or to assist other SP stations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the Fleet shop.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance staff.
  • Schedule vehicle maintenance and servicing; plan repairs.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met.
  • Coordinate with ramp and management to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with parts budgeting.
  • Diagnose problems and support shop staff.

Job Summary

Responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Fleet department and will support the maintenance staff with technical advice and guidance, plan vehicle maintenance and scheduling of servicing and emergency repairs to assure that company quality control standards are always met.

The expected pay rate is up to $40.00 - $45.00/hour. Full‑time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.

Your activities
  • Responsible for Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental activities at the station with an objective of reducing employee injuries, aircraft, and equipment damage
  • Supervise daily operation of the shop
  • Perform all responsibilities of a Fleet Mechanic
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and company policies and procedures
  • Communicate with Senior Management, Ramp staff, and SP Customers in a professional manner
  • Will liaison with Ramp management to coordinate repairs and servicing with minimal disruption to the day‑to‑day operation of SP customer(s)
  • Review and modify Preventive Maintenance schedules on SP and customer contract vehicles
  • Provide training, or can recommend training for GSE staff
  • Assist with inventory and budgetary control(s) which includes ordering of parts for the GSE shop
  • Assist mechanics in problem diagnostics and answer technical questions pertaining to equipment
  • Assure all staff follows all safety guidelines and procedures set out by SP and WCB
  • Is responsible for shop appearance and tracking service equipment maintenance and function
  • Maintain EPA requirements as necessary
  • Assures quality control on every piece of equipment that leaves shop after work is performed
  • Will retain a motor vehicle driver’s license for both air side / non air side in good standing at all times while employed with SP
  • Will have knowledge of WHIMIS and be responsible to ensure a copy is in place for the GSE shop
Your profile
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 3 years' experience of GSE/Fleet Maintenance
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must have Clear ID
  • Have certification of completion in one of the following trades: Heavy duty/Commercial or Automotive mechanic license. Certification must be kept in good standing
  • Knowledge of computer maintenance program, Maximo
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to travel when necessary for training or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required
