Job summary

The position requires an MFA or a BFA with concentration in jewelry/metals and at least five years of professional experience, plus strong safety knowledge and effective communication with diverse learners. Evening/weekend opportunities may be available at multiple centers in the county.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: MFA degree in jewelry or metals or BFA degree with a concentration in jewelry or metals with 5+ years of professional experience.
• Understanding of EPA and Institutional health and safety regulations.
• Ability to monitor safety procedures for gas, acids, kilns, resins, and power equipment.
• Comprehensive skills in soldering, casting, etching, and enameling.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to teaching excellence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures, demonstrations, and studio instruction in jewelry making.
• Develop a course syllabus addendum aligned with department standards, including objectives, outcomes, and grading criteria.
• Cover metal fabrication techniques, such as sawing, filing, soldering, texturing, and forming.
• Introduce the safe use of jewelry studio tools and equipment.
• Hold office hours to support students outside of class.
