Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking an on-site Jewelry Merchandising Assistant Buyer at Fred Meyer Jewelers in Portland, OR. You will support buyers, manage vendor relationships, and assist with assortment planning and inventory control to optimize GMROI.

Responsibilities include evaluating vendor returns, creating reports for meetings, and coordinating events while integrating with corporate policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 3–5 years of administrative experience.
• Must be 18+ and able to pass a drug test.
• Weekend/overtime availability on rare basis; ability to travel independently on rare basis.
• Familiarity with jewelry terms and processes; proficient with MS Word/Excel and jewelry software.

Responsibilities

• Model Customer 1st behavior and promote excellent customer service.
• Assist buyers in purchasing merchandise from vendors.
• Assist stores with buying requests and inventory control across stores.
• Evaluate vendor returns on salvaged merchandise and adjust GMROI.
• Assist with assortment planning, reports, and vendor meetings.
• Coordinate events and perform store tours or competitor comparisons.
• Track and manage stock levels, SKU setup, and item profiles per supplier specs.
