Job Details

Reporting to the Supervisor of Food Service and with guidance from the Lead Food Service Associate, the Food Service Associate is responsible for providing patient meal and food service to ensure patient satisfaction. Patients may range from infancy through late adulthood.

Job Description
  • Sets up and stocks the assigned station prior to service and for the next meal to facilitate efficient meal service.
  • Retrieves patient meal trays to ensure sanitary, safe, and timely service.
  • Maintains appropriate floor stock according to par levels and records usage.
  • Handles food according to proper sanitary and safety guidelines, following policies and procedures.
  • Prepares meals using recipes to ensure consistency, safety, nutritional value, taste, and compliance with cost and budget standards.
  • Follows current CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
  • May prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas, and serve prepared foods like muffins, biscotti, or bagels.
  • Stores leftovers properly and utilizes them in subsequent days/menus within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Packages, labels, and dates hot food items for patient service and cafeteria operations according to cook and chill guidelines, including vacuum packing as required.
  • May be cross-trained to perform various duties across different areas, such as tray line, storeroom, and food preparation.
  • Supports cleaning and sanitizing of equipment in dishroom or pot area as per standards.
  • Maintains proper care and safe storage of food, equipment, and the surrounding area.
  • Completes daily and special cleaning assignments to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

6+ months of previous food service experience preferred but not required.
