Jeff Temps, Jefferson's in-house temporary service, is seeking experienced Audiologists to apply for our temporary pool to support the Department of Otolaryngology at various locations between PA and NJ, primarily with hearing tests. We invite you to be a part of a select team committed to superior care.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm/5pm

Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The scope of practice of an audiologist is defined by their training and knowledge base. Areas of practice include assessment and habilitation/rehabilitation of individuals with auditory and vestibular disorders, prevention of hearing loss, and research in normal and disordered auditory and vestibular function.

CORE FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
  1. Identify, evaluate, and habilitate/rehabilitate individuals with peripheral or central auditory impairments, and strive to prevent such impairments.
  2. Assess and rehabilitate persons with vestibular disorders.
  3. Provide information on hearing, hearing loss, disability, prevention, and rehabilitation to business and industry.
  4. Develop and oversee hearing conservation and screening programs.
  5. Perform speech or language screening for initial identification and referral.
  6. Administer and interpret behavioral and electrophysiologic measures of auditory systems.
  7. Assess and interpret tests of the vestibular system.
  8. Evaluate and fit amplification devices, including assistive listening devices, and provide counseling and training.
  9. Take ear canal impressions, fit, sell, and dispense hearing aids, and provide non-medical management for tinnitus.
  10. Recommend and carry out vestibular rehabilitation goals.
  11. Provide habilitation services for infants and children with hearing impairment, including therapy, home intervention, family support, and case management.
  12. Determine cochlear implant candidacy and provide pre- and post-surgical assessment, counseling, training, and maintenance.
  13. Administer identification, evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation programs for children of all ages with hearing impairment.
  14. Design and implement industrial and community hearing conservation programs.
  15. Administer and interpret electrophysiologic measurements of neural function.
  16. Design, analyze, and interpret research related to auditory and vestibular systems.
  17. Perform basic audiometric testing efficiently.
  18. Complete and document patient charts promptly.
  19. Support management goals, teamwork, and positive outcomes.
  20. Perform audiologic evaluations, recommend testing procedures, and make referrals.
  21. Perform hearing aid evaluations, dispense aids, and follow up.
  22. Counsel patients at all stages of hearing aid procurement.
  23. Complete reports and communicate with referral sources.
  24. Participate in staff discussions and support departmental goals.
  25. Support department utilization and revenue goals.
  26. Perform ENGs and analyses.
  27. Operate within facility guidelines, demonstrate reliability, and work effectively with others.
  28. Conform to policies, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to safety standards.
  29. Set goals, prioritize tasks, handle multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
  30. Communicate effectively, listen attentively, and respect confidentiality.
  31. Keep supervisors informed and support unit goals.
  32. Operate within policies, demonstrate professionalism, and promote good customer relations.
  33. Express ideas clearly in writing.
