Manufacturing Process Engineer

Location: Canby, OR

Our plant in Canby, OR is part of Johnson Controls’ Power Solutions group. As the world's largest automotive battery manufacturer, we produce 146 million batteries annually, powering various vehicles and applications worldwide, supported by over 15,000 employees across more than 50 facilities.

Position Description:

The Manufacturing/Process Engineer supports, monitors, and controls the battery manufacturing process, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and performance. The role involves owning and improving plant and department metrics, performing complex work requiring independent judgment.

Primary Duties:

  • Interact daily with employees, maintenance, and leadership to understand plant focus and barriers.
  • Eliminate recurring downtime through engineering changes and improvements.
  • Implement process changes and install new equipment.
  • Review specifications and ensure proper integration into manufacturing.
  • Support Six Sigma and Best Business Practices projects.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and manufacturing to meet standards.
  • Monitor new processes and equipment to ensure performance specifications are met.
  • Provide engineering support for environmental and safety concerns.
  • Work with maintenance on technical problems and equipment introduction.
  • Manage capital and non-capital projects, including financial and timeline accountability.
  • Identify continuous improvement and quality enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in OSHA and EPA compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor’s of Science degree

Required Experience: 3+ years in manufacturing

Skills/Abilities: Troubleshooting, communication, multitasking, analytical thinking, technical aptitude, integrity, proficiency in MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, 10+ years experience, PLC code editing, electrical schematics interpretation, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Minitab, Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma certification.

Additional Requirements: Occasional US travel; flexible shifts during project implementation.
