Job summary

Newly Weds Foods in Chicago, IL is seeking a Bagger to operate a bagging machine, ensure proper labeling and weight, and verify bags pass the metal detector before leaving the line.

You will also perform routine sanitation, calibrate scales, and assist with packaging operations while following safety rules and department procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge about manufacturing food preferred.
• Able to communicate well, both verbal and written, also with good mathematical skills.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. continuously.

Responsibilities

• Ensure batch numbers and product codes on the labels match with the product been dumped.
• Stack bags neatly on skids as required and on the correct skid color.
• Return any unused label back to the Supervisor so that it can be recorded.
• Cleaning machine and work area as required.
• Detect any malfunction of the metal detector and rollers and report it to the supervisor.
• Comply with all safety requirements and company policies.
• Report all shortage to the lead operator.
• Notifies supervisor and QC tech if metal detector goes off.
• Calibrate floor scale for accurate weights.
• Lifts 20 - 40 lb bags consistently
• Operates automatic palletizer.
• Ensures product samples are given to QC tech every 5th pallet
• Ensures Load Moved tickets are signed or initialed
• Makes sure pack-list is completed for traceability.
• Requires climbing step ladders.
• Performs sanitation of all packaging equipment.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Salary

• Starting at $19.18- $22.57 an hour.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Environment

The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
