Job summary

Texas Workforce Commission in Austin, TX, is seeking a Software Engineer ( Programmer II-III ) to design, develop, and maintain AI-powered tools for public service. You will work on RESTful APIs, data pipelines, and enterprise systems in a collaborative team environment.

You will leverage Gen AI SDKs and cloud AI platforms, ensure security and governance compliance, and contribute across the full software lifecycle within the Information Technology Division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in Java and Python with hands-on experience.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled software development in support of Applications Solutions software systems.
• Partner with team to design, develop, and integrate in-house AI tools and solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code; other languages as needed.
• Develop and connect with REST APIs, data pipelines, and enterprise systems.
• Learn and utilize Gen AI SDKs and services from cloud providers to build solutions.
• Implement and fine-tune AI models developed with the team.
• Ensure solutions adhere to agency policies, data governance, accessibility, and security standards.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment and maintenance.
