Job summary

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Java/.NET Modernization Engineer to support a government customer in the DC Metro area. A Secret clearance is required.

This is a contingent recruiting profile for a Future New Business Opportunity. The role involves modernizing legacy Java and .NET components, preserving APIs and data behavior, and delivering through a DevSecOps pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Five or more years of enterprise software engineering experience using Java, .NET/C#, or both.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications, decomposing tightly coupled services, and preserving APIs, business rules, and data behavior.
• Experience with relational databases, REST/SOAP services, secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, and production troubleshooting.
• U.S. citizenship and active security clearance or eligibility required for the assigned work by start of performance, with ongoing eligibility thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Inventory legacy Java and .NET applications, services, libraries, jobs, interfaces, dependencies, configurations, and procedures.
• Trace business rules, calculations, transformations, data access, authentication, error handling, and external dependencies in legacy code.
• Develop API facades and compatibility adapters to preserve external contracts during transitions.
• Refactor services into modular, testable components or bounded external services as appropriate.
• Create unit, integration, contract, regression, and security tests comparing modernized behavior to legacy baseline.
• Support data migration, parallel operation, deployment, cutover, rollback, stabilization, and legacy retirement.
